Kinga Choszcz, a Polish traveller, dies in Ghana from malaria at the age of 33. Her mother, Krystyna, a teacher from Gdańsk, travels to Africa. Guided by entries in her daughter’s travel journal, she tries to find 11-year-old Malajka, whom Kinga bought out of slavery before she died.
