Poland, 1983. we see the story through the eyes of 6-year-old Ada, who instinctively protests against her mother’s dating “Uncle Paul”. She insist on keeping her mother’s company on her trip to Gdańsk. Ada’s father, Eve’s husband, is abroad, in the States. Ada misses him and she is unaware that mom’s meeting Paul is in reality a good-bye talk of old lovers. For Eve has decided to join her husband, and to leave martial law Poland, where “it’s impossible to live”. So to each of the three characters that day in Gdańsk means something else.
