Based on a real story, Papusza tells the dramatic tale of the first Gypsy poet. She was the first to write down her poems and the first to have her work translated into Polish and officially published. This was all possible thanks to the efforts of two men: Jerzy Ficowski, poet and researcher into the lives of the Polish Roma community, and poet Julian Tuwim.
