13th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival

The 13th edition of the Kinoteka Polish Film Festival will run in London from April 8 through May 29, 2015. The event is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

Documentary Films

The festival lineup features a number of new Polish documentary films and international co-productions, including 15 stron świata (15 Corners of the World) by Zuzanna Solakiewicz, the Polish-Czech co-production Gottland, and the Oscar-nominated documentary shorts Joanna by Aneta Kopacz and Nasza klątwa (Our Curse) by Tomasz Śliwiński.

This section will also feature several documentary films by Paweł Pawlikowski, director of Ida, which won this year’s Best Foreign Language Academy Award. The lineup also features documentary films by director Wojciech Wiszniewski.

Feature Films

The lineup of the feature section of this year’s Kinoteka includes such recent Polish films as Obywatel (Citizen) by Jerzy Stuhr, Obce ciało (Foreign Body) by Krzysztof Zanussi, Hardkor Disko (Hardcore Disco) by Krzysztof Skonieczny, and Pod Mocnym Aniołem (The Mighty Angel) by Wojciech Smarzowski. Audiences will also have an opportunity to see Performer (The Performer) by Maciej Sobieszczański and Łukasz Ronduda, a film awarded at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival.
Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema

The 13th Kinoteka Film Festival will also feature screenings of Polish films in a special section called Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema – a retrospective of digitally-restored masterpieces of Polish cinema selected by director Martin Scorsese. To date, this programme has screened in cinemas in the United States and Canada. All films screening in this section have been digitally restored. Further details are available here.
