Award Nomination for "Sleepincord"
The short animated film Snępowina (Sleepincord) by Marta Pajek has been nominated for the annual Cartoon d’Or award of the European Association of Animation Film. The film was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
Animated Film About Dreams
This animated film focuses on sleep dreams, which exist at the intersection of the physical and spiritual world and remains intangible. It happens within us, but also outside us, which is the source of our anxiety. When dreaming, we are in a world that has ever-changing rules, but we wake up in a place that is seemingly controllable and appears predictable. But sometimes even in that place there is ‘something’ that controls us, making decisions for us.
A Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute
Marta Pajek is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Snępowina (Sleepincord) marks her professional debut, which brought her the grand prize in the Anima competition at the 19th Etiuda & Anima International Film Festival in Krakow and the grand prize in the national competition at the second Se-ma-for Film Festival. The animated Sleepincord was produced by the Se-ma-for Film Foundation in Łódź and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
The Cartoon d’Or award has been presented annually since 1991. Snępowina (Sleepincord) received this nomination as a result of last year’s win at the Fest Anca International Animated Film Festival in Slovakia in 2012. Winners of the Cartoon d’Or award will be announced on September 19, 2013. The awards ceremony will take place in Toulouse.
