Awards for Polish Films in Spain

Two films co-financed by the Polish Film Institute received awards at the 52nd Gijón International Film Festival in Spain.

Awards for Maciej Pieprzyca’s Chce się żyć (Life Feels Good)

Jury members Santiago Zannou, Alberto Ammann, Hebe Tabachnik, Natalia Verbeke and Cristóbal Arteaga voted Dawid Ogrodnik to be the Best Actor of the 52nd Gijón IFF. The jury also awarded Chce się żyć (Life Feels Good) for best production design; the ‘Gil Parrondo’ award went to the film’s production designer Joanna Anastazja Wójcik.

Awards for Matka Ziemia (Mother Earth)

Matka Ziemia (Mother Earth), a short film by Piotr Złotorowicz (Łódź Film School) received three awards from jury members José Esteban Alenda, Beatriz Sanchís, William Miller, and Mikel Rueda: Best Director, Best Actor in a Short Film (Mirosław Baka), and Best Production Design (Katarzyna Jędrzejczyk). The film previously received special mention of the youth jury in the international section of the Pardi di domani short film competition at this year’s 67th Locarno IFF.
