"Cold War" and "Another Day Of Life" with Goya Awards
“Cold War” became the Best European Film and “Another Day of Life” is the Best Feature Animated Film. The Goya Awards are the most important Spanish film awards awarded since 1987 by the Spanish Academy of Film Art.
“Cold War” named the Best European Film
The Goya award for the Best European Film is another significant distinction for co-financed by the Polish Film Institute “Cold War”. Paweł Pawlikowski’s film competed in Seville, among others, with last year’s Oscar nominee “Phantom Thread” by Paul Thomas Anderson and the films “Girl” by Lukas Dhont and “Party” by Sally Potter. This is another success of Paweł Pawlikowski in Spain, in 2015, his previous film “Ida” won in the same category.
It is worth recalling that in December 2018, during the European Film Awards which also took place in Seville, “Cold War” received five statuettes, including the Best European Film.
Chances for an Oscar
The Cold War was nominated for the 91st Academy Awards. Production will fight for an Oscar in the categories of the Best Foreign Language Film, the Best Director and the Best Cinematography. The winners will be announced on February 24, 2019 during the 91st American Academy Awards.
“Another Day of Life” named the Best Feature Animated Film
During the 33rd edition of the Goya Awards, the film by Damian Nenow (Poland) and Raúla de la Fuente (Spain) “Another Day of Life” was recognized as the best feature animated film. The film, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, is an international co-production based on a book by the legendary Polish war correspondent Ryszard Kapuściński. The authors of the screenplay are Raúl de la Fuente, Damian Nenow, Amaia Remírez, David Weber and Niall Johnson. The film is a Polish-Spanish-German-Belgian-Hungarian co-production. The film, premiered in Cannes, received in San Sebastian an audience award and an award for the best screenplay. The film won also a European Film Award in the category of the Best Feature Animated Film.
