Tomasz Kot as Zbigniew Religa

“The operating room is a rather enclosed space, and one usually enters it under anesthesia and thus remembers nothing. So the most important thing was to understand the nature of this job […]. I was most interested in the temperature of his speech – especially since all his colleagues often mention his temper, his forcefulness. I asked Krzysztof to get old interviews from the radio archives. I would listen to the sound of his voice. I looked at photos from his personal archives. I met with Anna Religa, and with their son Grzegorz Religa. Once we truly understood that this is not a game and we are telling a story that is a constant balancing act between life and death – not taking a bunch of pills for the flu, but opening a person’s chest and performing open heart surgery – my whole ego somehow diminished and it became easier to prepare for the role,” said lead actor Tomasz Kot at the 39th Gdynia Film Festival.

Winner of the 39th Gdynia Film Festival

Bogowie (Gods) won the 39th Gdynia Film Festival. In addition to the Golden Lions Grand Prize, Łukasz Palkowski’s feature received the award for Best Actor (Tomasz Kot) and awards for Best Screenplay, Best Make-Up, and Best Production Design.
