PFI ANNOUNCEMENT of 07.04.2020: Scholarships for filmmakers

As a result of the work of the cinema crisis team, the Director of the Polish Film Institute, Radosław Śmigulski, in cooperation with the Polish Filmmakers Association, the Polish Film Academy, the Polish Directors Guild and the Association of Artists for Rzeczpospolita, established a program to support film professions. Under the program, filmmakers who, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are in a difficult financial situation, can apply for scholarships

Representatives of all film professions can take advantage of the scholarship. The basis for granting the scholarship is the applicant’s certified description of his current difficult financial situation and its relationship with the introduction of restrictions caused by the epidemic in the film industry

The scholarship amount is PLN 2,400 gross, and you can apply for support once a quarter. The scholarship can be received up to three times.

The scholarship budget allocated from the Polish Film Institute amounts to PLN 1 million. All other entities can support this budget by donation.

Composition of the scholarship award committee

The scholarship commission included representatives of the most important film industry organizations in Poland:

  • Łukasz Ronduda – recommended by the Guild of Polish Directors,
  • Robert Kaczmarek – representing the Association of Artists for Rzeczpospolita,
  • Ilona Łepkowska – representing the Polish Film Academy,
  • Małgorzata Szczepkowska-Kalemba – representing the Polish Film Institute.
  • Michał Szcześniak – representing the Polish Filmmakers Association
