A Film Supported by the Polish Film Institute
The Rhode Island fest marks the first awards for Las cieni (The Shadow Forest), a film directed and lensed by Andrzej Cichocki, produced by the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia, and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. “A poacher stands eye-to-eye with the wolf he’d been hunting, when suddenly he hears gunshots. He notices a group of terrified people running away. A young boy who was among those running gets lost in the forest. Even the wolves are able to sense the imminent danger,” reads the official synopsis on the film’s website. Las cieni (The Shadow Forest) previously screened in the international student film section of the 38th World Film Festival in Montreal.
The lineup of this year’s RIIFF features 250 films produced in 62 countries. This year’s edition of the festival also marked a record 6,000 submissions.
