Beats of Freedom is a documentary film about the Polish rock music scene under Communism, when life in Poland was fully controlled by the regime. The film features interviews with Polish musicians, as well as unique recordings and previously unpublished archive footage from various events, including the Jarocin music festival.
Director, screenwriter, editor. Studied television creation and production at the Łódź Film School from 1997 to 2000. In the early 1990s, Słota was in the rock music business, organizing concerts and festivals; he and his friends also established a recording studio called Cyberstudio. Served as manager of Myslovitz and Nowy Horyzont.
Screenwriter and music journalist, author of several publications on the history of rock music in Poland. Co-author of the “Encyclopedia of Polish Rock Music”. Together with Wojciech Słota, he made the six-part series Historia polskiego rocka (2008) for Discovery Historia, and the full-length documentary Beats of Freedom (2010).
