The film presents the work of Irena Sendler who, with her collaborators, saved over 2,500 Jewish children from death in the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. She gave them new identities and placed them in Polish families, orphanages and convents. Irena Sendler and her collaborators cooperated with Żegota, a unit of the Polish Home Army devoted to saving Jews. She was honoured with the “Righteous Among the Nations” medal by the Israeli Institute Yad Vashem.
