Writer Natalia Rolleczek, over 90 years old today, published her famous piece “Drewniany różaniec” (“Wooden Rosary”) in the 1950s, criticizing the convent of Felician Sisters and indirectly the whole Catholic Church, which resulted in her being dubbed a militant atheist. This documentary, rich in unique archive footage and staged sequences, features interviews with people who were close to Rolleczek, but also her idealogical opponents. The film also covers the story of Natalia Rolleczek’s acquaintance with Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II), their encounters during the underground movement and when he was already Pope, as well as issues with censorship, family dramas and spiritual struggles.
