CZECH CRITICS AWARDS FOR "I, OLGA HEPNAROVÁ"
This year's Czech Film Critics Awards were presented on January 28. I, Olga Hepnarová, the feature debut by Tomáš Weinreb and Petr Kazda, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, won a total of four out of nine awards.
"COMMUNION" WINS IN TRIESTE
Komunia (Communion), a documentary directed by Anna Zamecka and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, won the documentary film competition at the 28th Trieste International Film Festival.
"Afterimage" in Cinemas in Canada
Powidoki (Afterimage), a film directed by Andrzej Wajda and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute was released theatrically in Canada on February 1, 2017.
"United States of Love" in Cinemas in Romania
Zjednoczone Stany Miłości (United States of Love), a film directed by Tomasz Wasilewski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, was released theatrically in Romania on January 20.
2016: A SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR POLISH DOCUMENTARIES
2016 was a great year for Polish documentaries. This success is owed largely to the universality of topics tackled by filmmakers, successful collaboration between directors and producers, a good network of international contacts, and excellent national film events dedicated to documentary films.

Kuba Czekaj's Królewicz Olch (The Erlprince), a film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, has been selected for screening in the Generation 14plus section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival.

In 2016, the Polish Film Institute launched a new expert committee and allocated a separate budget for films for young and family audiences.
Call for submissions: New Horizons International Competition
The 17th edition of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival will take place in Wrocław, from 3rd to 13th August 2017. The New Horizons International Competition — a platform where artistic cinema that extend the boundaries set by conventional filmmakers is presented — remains the core element of the festival.

December 10, 2016 marked the 29th European Film Awards ceremony in Wrocław. The award for European Sound Designer 2016 went to Radosław Ochnio. The People's Choice Award went to Body/Ciało (Body).
Filmförderungsanstalt is the new partner of the Polish-German Film Fund
On 9 December 2016, representatives of the institutions participating in the Polish-German Film Fund: Magdalena Sroka (PFI); Peter Dinges (FFA); Kirsten Niehuus (Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg) and Claas Danielsen (MDM), signed an agreement on cooperation within the framework of the Polish-German Film Fund.

Polish Film Institute Supports Minority Co-Productions
