"Gabriel" Wins in India

Gabriel, a family film directed by Mikołaj Haremski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received the award for Best Film at the CMS International Children's Film Festival in India.


"Królowa Pik" at 2014 DOK.Incubator

The final selection of this year's DOK.Incubator documentary workshop has been announced. One of the projects developed within the workshop will be a Polish film entitled Królowa Pik (The Queen of Spades), directed by Agnieszka Zwiefka. The film is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.


Bollywood Film Shooting in Warsaw

Warsaw proved to be better a better location than London; on April 11, the city saw the first day of shooting on Kick, a major Bollywood production.


France: "The Congress" DVD Release

The Congress, a film directed by Ari Folman and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, was released on DVD and blu-ray in France on April 8, 2014.


Polish Films at 2014 Visions du Réel

Several Polish documentary films will screen at the Visions du Réel International Documentary Film Festival in Nyon, Switzerland. The festival runs from April 25 through May 3, 2014.


Pawlikowski Best Director in Vilnius

At the 19th Vilnius IFF, Paweł Pawlikowski received the award for Best Director for his feature Ida, a film co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.


"Wałęsa. Man of Hope" in Slovak, Hungarian and Czech Cinemas

Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope), a film directed by Andrzej Wajda and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, was released theatrically in Slovakia and Hungary on March 20, 2014. On April 3, the film was also released in cinemas in the Czech Republic.


Polish Films at 2014 Filmfest Dresden

Several Polish films will screen at the Dresden International Short Film Festival, which runs from April 15 through April 20, 2014.


Italian Critics Praise "Ida"

Ida, a film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, received excellent reviews from Italian film critics. The film was released theatrically in Italy on March 13, 2014.


Ninth Polish Film Days in Ukraine

A selection of Polish films made in the past four years will screen from April 10 through April 16 in six Ukrainian cities (and April 10 through April 19 in Kiev).

9th Edition of A l’Est, du Nouveau

The ninth edition of A l'Est, du Nouveau, the only film festival in France dedicated exclusively to films from Central and Eastern Europe, will run from April 11 through April 18 in Mont-Saint-Aignan and Rouen. The festival will open with a screening of Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope) by Andrzej Wajda.


"Domestic Product"

March 25, 2014 marked the launch of an educational journey from Warsaw to Yangon in Myanmar. Over the course of six months, a travelling cinema known as 'Produkt krajowy' (Domestic Product) will promote Polish film art in villages and small towns. The event is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.


Polish Films at 33rd Istanbul IFF

Between April 5 and April 20, audiences of the 33rd Istanbul International Film Festival will have an opportunity to see the latest Polish films and explore Polish experimental animation.


Eurimages Supports Polish Doc

Zud (Polish title: Dziecko stepu, English title: Child of the Steppe), a documentary film directed by Marta Minorowicz, received financial support from Eurimages, the European film production fund. The film is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
